Two more nearly been there moments

“I started French at the local grammar school, where our teacher has some difficulty managing the new reel-to-reel recorder. So we spent quite a lot of time listening to French played at high speed, both forwards and backwards”

“My main reason for going there was to improve my Swedish, but British Centre teachers were supposed to use only English in class, so I spent two years pretending not to understand what my students were saying to each other in Swedish- the opposite of the more usual second language listening situation”

Both from Tony Lynch’s Teaching Second Language Listening, fresh off the press from OUP. As you can probably tell from these two quotes, my first impression is that is incredibly well written and easy to read- amazing for a subject that made my heart sink the minute I saw the cover! Now stop distracting me with this blogging nonsense so I can get back to it!

The last nearly been there moment that makes these “more” was When Student Centred Goes Too Far

Haven’t dropped by for quite a while and am glad to see you’re still churning out excellent articles.

I’ve recently amalgamated some of my blogs into one… the inspirationally titled ‘ELT World’. Actually, your list of interview questions which I am honestly getting round to answering was a catalyst for the move.

Am slowly but surely posting new stuff.
