World Cup predictions speaking

Make a prediction about the current and/ or future football World Cups using language like that in the table below, see if your partner agrees, discuss for longer if you like, then take turns doing the same with different predictions from the table.

Useful language for discussing predictions
– “I think that is exactly right”/ “That’s exactly what I would predict”
– “I think it is more likely than that (because…) I would say that… (because…)”
– “I think it is less likely than that (because…) I would say that… (because…)”
– “I have the opposite opinion (because…) I would say that… (because…)”

When your teacher stops you, share one prediction which you agreed on and see what the class thinks. Then ask about anything in the table you are not sure how to use, working together as a class to make related predictions about the World Cup each time.

First of all with no help, try to write predictions language in the gaps below in order of how likely the event is, with language with the same meaning next to each other.
