Listen to your teacher or another student say a word. Take turns asking questions about the spelling like those in the box below until you have spelt the whole word correctly. You get one point for each question you ask that no one has asked about that word before. You get five points if you can spell the whole word, but lose five points if you try to spell the whole word but spell it wrongly.

When your teacher stops you, ask about any words below you can’t pronounce, you don’t understand, etc.

Play the same game, but this time without hearing the word before you start asking questions about the spelling. You get one point for each new question, or five points if you can correctly spell and pronounce the word.
