B2 First Speaking Part One questions on communication and language learning

FCE Result Unit 7

Student A

With someone who has the other worksheet, take turns asking two or three questions from your worksheet, only using the follow up questions in brackets if the first answer is short.

  • Do you have any close online contacts who you’ve never met? (How are those relationships?)
  • Do you still have a landline? (Why/ Why not?)
  • How often do you use social media? (Do you think that will change in the future?)
  • How often do you write notes for yourself or other people? (What kinds of things are they about?)
  • Have you ever tried studying other languages? (How was that compared to studying English?)
  • What parts of your English do you most want to improve? (Why those things?)
  • Have you ever tried a language exchange? (Would you like to?)

When your teacher stops you, look at both worksheets and ask about any questions you aren’t sure about, working together to answer them each time.

  • How do you usually keep in contact with your friends? (Why that way?)
  • Are there any kinds of electronic communication which you prefer to avoid? (How about leaving messages on answering machines?)
  • Do you usually call people on your mobile phone or text them? (Why?)
  • Do you still write letters? (What are the advantages?)
  • Have you ever reviewed something online? (Would you do so in the future?)
  • What aspect of English makes listening comprehension most difficult? (Why do you think that is?)
  • Have you ever studied anything through English? (Is that enough to improve your English, or do you also need actual language study?)

When your teacher stops you, look at both worksheets and ask about any questions you aren’t sure about, working together to answer them each time
