Cambridge First Speaking Part One on holidays
Student A
In pairs, take turns asking around three questions to your partner. They have different questions to you. The extra follow-up questions in brackets () are for use only if the first answer is short, so you can usually just move onto another question.
- When is the next public holiday in your country? (What does it celebrate? What are you planning to do?)
- Do people in your country generally know what public holidays celebrate? (Why/ Why not)?
- What do people in your country usually do during their summer holidays? (Why do you think that is popular?)
- Do you prefer holidays in natural surroundings or city breaks? (Why do you feel that way?)
- Are there enough holidays in your country, do you think? (Do you think that will change?)
- Where do you like to go on holiday?
- Is there a part of the world that you would particularly like to visit? Why?

Student B

- How do you usually spend your holidays?
- Where did you go for your last holiday?
- Where would you like to go for your next holiday?
- What do you think you gain from visiting other countries?
- Which area of your country would you like to get to know better? (Why?)
- What’s the most interesting place you’ve visited near here? (Tell us about it.)
- Have you ever used your English on holiday? (What did you
- use it for?)
- Do you like to plan your holidays carefully or do you prefer to just go? (Why?)
- Where would you really like to go on holiday in the future? (Why?)
When your teacher stops you, look at both the Student A and Student B questions and ask about any which you are not sure how to answer.
Do the same in FCE Speaking exam format, with one examiner asking a mix of the same question and different questions to two or three candidates. Unlike the real test, only ask questions on this one topic.
