Meeting people and meeting people again simplest responses
Without looking at the worksheet below, listen to your teacher and hold up the correct card depending on whether it is someone you say when you meet someone face to face for the very first time (“First time”) or something you say when you meet someone for a second or subsequent time (“Again”).
When your teacher stops you listening game, decide if the language in each section below is for meeting people the first time (F) or for meeting people again (A).

Which phrases above are most suitable for your business meetings?
Test each other on the language:
- play the same holding up cards game
- say what kind of phrase you want (e.g. “Meeting for the first time, starting conversations, suitable for business”) and help your partner make suitable phrases
- say a phrase and see if your partner can respond
- say a phrase, listen to your partner’s response, and together roleplay the rest of that conversation

Photocopy and cut out the cards above so that there is one of each for each student or group. Students listen to you saying the sentences on Worksheet 1 and race to either hold up the correct card or to slap the correct card on the table.
