Choose one of the food topics in the list below and do the thing from here that your teacher tells you to (or your own choice from these if that is what your teacher says):

  • One person describes the whole process then the other person tries to add anything that they can
  • Take turns adding one sentence to the description
  • Work together to describe the process

Use full sentences and avoid the words ā€œyouā€ and ā€œIā€ as much as you can.

Food processes to describe

  • A food which is cooked in front of the customers, e.g. pizza or teppanyaki
  • A food which is prepared by the customer in a restaurant, such as okonomiyaki, sukiyaki, cream tea or Korean barbecue
  • A meal of several courses, for example kaiseki
  • Changes from the traditional way of preparing something
  • Commercial production of a food, for instance ketchup
  • Food preparation which usually takes more than one person, e.g. mochi
  • From farm to shop, such as bread, mustard or breakfast cereal
  • How a part of food is digested and used by the body, for instance protein
  • Making a cocktail or other complicated drink
  • Making a dish, for example sushi, tempura
  • Making a hot drink, e.g. Turkish coffee or Russian tea
  • Making and eating a traditional breakfast from one country
  • Preparation of a food or drink which needs time to mature, such as Christmas pudding
  • Preparing a dessert
  • Preserving or fermenting food, e.g. dried mushrooms, pickles, kimchi
  • Production of a food made from meat, for example sausages, culet
  • Setting up, using and cleaning a piece of kitchen equipment, for instance a food mixer
  • The spreading of a food from one region to others
  • Traditional preparation of an alcoholic drinkĀ 
  • Traditional production of a food or drink, e.g. rice wine, tofu or soy sauce
