Nobody has quite written about it that way, but that seems to be the upshot of Bertlesmann taking a 53 percent share of the company that will be formed by the merger of Random House and Penguin. I can’t imagine graded readers suddenly disappearing from the Pearson ELT catalogue, but I do wonder whether the newly semi-independent Penguin will start to expand their own limited range of ELT books – they were once a fairly major player in their own right before the merger with Longman.
