Back when I still had a vague thought of being a proper journalist rather than just a blogger (before I managed to get something published in EL Gazette and so found out how much work it really is), I set up a bunch of TEFL-related Google Alerts. I’ve cancelled a few, but still get regular links to things happening to most of the big organisations in TEFL, plus old schools of mine and a few famous TEFLers.
My main hope for a regular supply of juicy news stories was the Google Alert on EF, seeing as they claim to be the world’s biggest chain and their reputation is not the best. Perhaps because 50% of all the links were to things on EF Schumacher of Small is Beautiful fame instead, I was to be disappointed on that one. Luckily (?) another large TEFL organisation just kept on giving and giving, with my Google Alert on them giving me an online spat or tacky marketing scheme once every few months. (Regular readers might be able to guess who I’m talking about – others can keep reading until the next relevant Google Alert turns into a blog post to find out).
Should regular TEFL blog updates be enough for you, may I also point you towards this:
